A cafe rooted in community.

The Trellis Cafe is a local hub of music, art, and food grown by producers across the South Shore, delivered to our neighbours with love and pride.

The Trellis was opened in 1985 by Jackie Dunsworth, a local musician and entrepreneur. Originally a bank, the building was sitting in the perfect location for a cafe, directly en route from Halifax to the South Shore. It was a local favourite, selling fresh baked bread, coffee, and brunch.

It has hosted many events over the years, from accomplished musicians to art shows to community gatherings. When Jackie sold the restaurant to Wilma Raaymakers, she brought her own vision for the cafe, and the Trellis became a dining and entertainment destination. Winning the Taste of Nova Scotia award for Restaurant of the Year in 2012.

Now, again under new ownership, the Trellis is a local hub of quality food, and an enjoyable venue for music and art. Alisha Savary and April Gratto, established restaurateurs in the Hubbards area, have brought the Trellis back to life as a music and art venue. They have a passion for local talent and a commitment to the community, and they are excited to bring their vision to the legacy of the Trellis Cafe.
